The Zerkel Family

Meet this adorable family I had the pleasure of working with today! Mr. Peyton turned 1 today, as a matter of fact so we did not only a family session, but made sure to get shots of just him as well! There were so many great sneak peeks, I had to force myself to stick to Seven!

Heather and Tom: Thank you for sharing your family with me. You guys did a great job, and I look forward to working with you guys again!

James and Lori's Big Day...

Meet James and Lori, my couple from Saturday's wedding in the rose garden! What they didn't realize is that I had no idea the rose garden is around the library! What an awesome surprise! The ceremony was quite wonderful, the guests were very nice and fun to be around for the day, and Pelican's where the reception was held served great food! My bride is camera shy, so I opted to give them a preview of other areas as well as a couple of them! James and Lori thank you for allowing me to take part in your day! As always, it was my honor to be there and be such a valuable part to your wedding! Your family and friends were amazing and really kind to me, so thank you for that... it is very appreciated! :)

I knew if we were just outside the library, we had to go get some images in there! They all had a great time in here taking photos, laying on the ground, and being watched by all the patrons who were in the library. There were some great shots in there!

Albuquerque Rose Garden

On Saturday I had the privilege of photographing a Wedding at the Albuquerque Rose Garden! It was so beautiful, there were quite a few Roses and other flowers in bloom, and it was a great day and perfect spot for a wedding in October!

My Triplets

It's been awhile since I have posted my own girls on here, so thought I would share these! They were doing Ring Around the Rosie, and then decided on practicing their princess waves, rather than let mommy "photograph" them... now I need to work on some of the boys! Enjoy~

Pumpkin Patch...

I love taking my family to Pumpkin Patches... It is our yearly tradition, and with us being newer here, we were not sure where to go. I happened to find this place one day on the way to a photo shoot... so that is where we decided to take our kids! 2008 Galloping Grace Youth Ranch Pumpkin Patch.... Very nice, very friendly and such cute decor. My 6 kids ended up having a great time, you should check it out for yourselves if you get a chance!

Home From Las Vegas!

I thought I would post an image of myself beings that I am always behind the camera, noone ever gets to see me! Here is a shot of Kevin and I at the top of the Stratosphere!

As most of you know Kevin and I spent our 15 year Anniversary in Las Vegas. We had a great time, but missed our kids and were so ready to come home. Give me a few days to get back in the swing of things, and then I will post from there, as I have tons to share! :)
I have 2 anxious brides however, so I need to work on those...

Paying Tribute on 9-11

Kevin and I like many of you will never forget where we were 7 years ago, or what we were doing! I think all our lives were affected in one way or another....
For me we were so affected because Kevin is a Security Forces Cop. He said to me that morning, "Jode, I don't know when I'll be home tonight" (we were stationed at FE Warren) I remember being like Oh please... Do you know I did not see my husband for a week and half after that morning, and for the next 3 years He was gone more than he ever was in his whole career!
So while I do not downplay anyone elses jobs in the military, it opened my eyes as to why what Kevin does makes me so proud of him!

Taken at ground zero in December of 2007

Taken in New York, It reads World Trade Center. This was taken right next to ground zero, I took it from the opposite direction as to see all the lights and beauty on the other side.

Honoring so many men and women in the military who do what they do....

These images were taken at a Security Forces Cops' Memorial service...

Signature Wedding Poses! {Santa Fe, New Mexico Wedding Photographer}

My Signature Couple Pose!

My Signature Bridal Pose!
I have been asked quite a few times about and hired to take certain poses! These are the "top" two per say! I began these two poses with the help of Amanda, who saw something on my site and said "Can you do that with us, even thou we have no kids!" :) (flag pose with little boy and little girl under Promises tab)

We tried the poses, and Loved the outcome! They are now what I call my signature pose!
But not all my couples are shaped the same way, or can lay certain ways, so I looked up the definition of signature pose, and found out that It's ok, in fact encouraged to do it a tad bit different each time! This allows you, my couples, to do it how you wish!

Therefore I wanted to show you a preview of all the ways we can do these two poses! I love them! Then I am biased to my own work and clientele! Enjoy~ Let me also take a minute to say Thank You all for allowing me to make you lay on the ground, carpet or grass, on such a special day... If it's any conciliation the outcome is beautiful! :)

Jerrie and Kevin...{New Mexico Wedding Photographer}

Let me introduce you to Jerrie and Kevin. My couple from Saturdays' Wedding. I had never met them myself, until the ceremony... They were a very nice couple, even when it began to get really hot outside, and they were ready for photographs to be over! :) What a gorgeous bridal party they had! I enjoyed being with all their family and friends! And can't wait to show them all the images!

Heather and Andrew's Reception!

I wanted to post alittle preview for Heather and Andrew... Before I have to post other things, and work to do... Then leave! You are both really great! :) Enjoy!

New Featured Item!

Upon seeing this PicFetti at Heather and Andrew's Rehearsal Dinner, this is Jody Cooper Photography's Newest Feature Item! It was really neat to see my work not only in their house, but "done" on something! They used it to decorate the tables, the candles, you name it! These particular images are from their Engagement Session, but I will be able to offer this particular item to anyone I photograph! If you want to do Christmas Images with me, we can use those... Baby shower (maternity session) Birthday, Seniors so on and so forth. The only condition is I would need to photograph the "session" per say about 3-4 weeks ahead of the event. Giving me time to edit, order, ship and get to you! I am including this offer in my Engagement Session Collection, Senior Collection, Baby Collection, and Christmas Collections but can be special ordered!

Heather And Andrew's Big Day! {New Mexico Wedding Photographer}

Heather found me quite some time ago, and said "I want you!" We struck up a deal and ... here we are today! I really wanted to photograph this wedding, there a couple of things I have fallen in love with here in New Mexico (the tourist in me can't help it) with her getting married at the Sandia Mountains, I knew they would be great images! What I didn't expect was for the ceremony to be so wonderful! Heather and Andrew have wonderful personalities, and great taste in decor! Their families were all very kind, and even let me joke around with them for a couple of days! I love the way Heather and Andrew are with one another! Andrew was alittle shy at their engagement session, but that was gone at the wedding! Heather is quite the risk taker, she doesn't mind the do not enter signs, she goes around them nicely! :) They have such affection for one another that trust me when I tell you this is a tiny sneak peek, I am not kidding! Make sure to visit my website for a couple more images!

Heather, Andrew and all your family and friends!
Thank you for much for allowing me to take part in this Awesome day! Thank You for being so kind, and allowing me to inconvenience you to get great shots! Hattie: I will pay for my own ticket to photograph your wedding one day! :) Allen, you were a great sport! I love your eye for art. Heather, I love your camera! and Andrew, Thank you for letting me dream for a minute that it was mine :) So I could set it up for Heather! You guys were both great! Jody

*New* Jody Cooper Photography Office

About a year ago, with the help of my clients, I began the transformation of Jody Cooper Photography Office in my home. After having a few clients in my home, to view and order prints, they had expressed to me that it was very nice to come and see my work, see examples of items you can purchase, View their sessions on my screen made for photography purposes, and see my gifts or thank you items from other clients... thus began the transformation into my home. I love having each of you visit my home and welcome any of you at any time... with an appointment that is! :) Keep in mind I do have Triplets that think you are there to see them! All in all this has become a great change for my business! Feel free to stop by!

Allison's FairyTale Ending...

Meet Allison and R.J. my couple from Saturday's Wedding! At our consultation, Allison expressed to me all the different reasons she hired me, and would be honored for me to photograph her wedding! She really wanted "Fairy Tale endings, and to be able to get tons of images outside!" Well we woke to rain on her special morning, but low and behold, the ceremony was nothing short of a Fairy Tale, and the images reflect that. I asked R.J.'s permission to post that, he was very emotional... It was the sweetest thing to see him tear up as he watched Landon, and then Allison walk down the aisle. They are the cutest family and very sincere in their love for one another. Their attendants had the best personalities, and were so cooperative in this hot weather!
Now, I have to comment on Landon, the most handsome "ring beerier" I have ever worked with thus far, he also happens to be the Bride and Grooms' 3 year old son! I had the opportunity to meet with Landon twice prior to the wedding, and he was adorable every time! I love the images I was able to capture of him alone and with his parents!
To Allison, R.J. and Landon, Thank You for allowing me to take part in such a special day and moment in your lives! I can not wait to show you all the images! Enjoy your sneak peek ~

Priceless..... Make sure to check my website for more Images from this Wedding!

Waiting On Peyton...

Meet Denise.... My Winner for the Mother's Day Contest. I think we have both been waiting for this session. That being said, it was well worth the wait! She was truly glowing, not one stretch mark, and so beautiful! She was great in front of the camera, and even left me speechless telling me that she loves my work :) She choose to do the black satin fabric that was very stunning for her husband Fred who is currently deployed allowing us to do a few intimate shots as well, but I need to check with her as to what I am allowed to post! To view comments left on this session, please visit my Clients Thoughts Blog to your right!
Thank You Denise for sharing such a special time in your life, I can't wait to meet Peyton (what a great name by the way) at her newborn session!

My Brides... As Cinderella....

I have been waiting for the time to blog this, and this mornings' conversation hit the spot! You see all my girls think when I am photographing a Wedding, I am photographing "Cinderella"... That is a high standard to live up to Ladies... :)

"Mama, do you have to work today?"
"Yes, I do, but I will come home as soon as I am done K"
"Is today Cinderella (brides) or a Baby?"
"Today is Cinderella.... she is wearing a Red Dress!"
"ohhhh mama, I want a Red dress... that is pretty!"
My daughter Payton is whom this conversation was with! I love how the mind of a child works! The girls came up with my brides as Cinderella along time ago... and for some reason think the only other people I photograph are babies!

Thunderstorms and Rainbows!

One of My Triplet Girls

Most of my clients know, but just in case...
I have Identical Triplets... Which is the background to this story. :)
I love this shot of my daughter! Taken on the 4th of July at our little local parade here in town. I was sitting on the ground, looked up and thought oh what a great shot of her that would be!
The problem? I normally do their hair up so I can see their earrings, or they wear different hair barrets so in portraits, I can tell them apart. This particular morning however, I was running late, and just put red bows in all 3 girls hair! The Outcome? I have no idea who this is! I think it's Aspen, but my boys think it's Payton. All 3 girls think it is of each one of them.
Oh well, I am thinking of just running it off, and putting it in all 3 girls books... Is that being a bad mom?? :)

The Richard Family...

I realize I am completely biased to my own clientele, but seriously, that is because look how cute they all are! This entire family was adorable! They did a great job, and did exactly as I asked! I loved their shots, and can't wait for them to see all the images taken! *I of course had to use some of this fabulous session on my site, so have a peek!

So this of course was not "the best family photo" there are great shots of the 4 of them, but I had to use this one! I think it's adorable! Look how loving and attentive both mom and dad are to Big A. as this poor guy was Done! These two did the best job! They didn't even get really grouchy at all till the very end! Thanks to you all for a great session!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July... from my family to yours!
Jody, Kevin, Dave, Broc, Heath, Aspen, Payton and Trinity Cooper

I hope this finds all my clients, friends and family enjoying this holiday with your loved ones! I try not to post too many personal images on here, as that is not what it was intended for :) However, hopefully every once in awhile it is ok, so you know other aspects of me than just photographer :) I thought I would share this collage we posted on our family blog, over here as well! Mind you these were not taken for professional use, just for fun! I hope you enjoy them at any rate. Have a great Holiday Weekend.... It will be back to Session posting tomorrow!

Blog Questions....

Click on grid to enlarge

Recently I have been asked by quite a few of my clients, can you post the Images taken by me on your blog? Absolutely!! The only thing I ask of you, is that somewhere on your blog with the photo, to please note that it was taken by Jody Cooper Photography, and is a copyright! Other than that, have fun... post the images I take! I love that my clients like my work enough to post them!
Here is an example from a client who posted their family photo on their blog.

Fairytale Endings...

A business associate and friend of mine, Shelia, makes these great signs with all kinds of sayings on them... I am forever "shopping" or browsing at her store (Simple Impressions to the right) Anyhow my last couple of girly shoots have made me think as girls/women we love Fairy Tales, we love Shoes, we love all that stuff, and therefore the inspiration to these images!

New Mexico Skies....Updated!

There are a couple of things growing on me since moving here... 1) The Mountains! 2) The Hot Air Balloons and 3) Quite possibly my favorite of all The Sky! I have never lived anyplace, where the sky is so many different, dramatic shades, all in one day! I love it! So many of you, My valuable client have stated to me that you enjoy my "Skies" images as well. So I took a minute to update them and add a few! It is a photographers dream to live around such beauty!

Jacquelyn and Walter Preview...

Well finally I got to photograph Jacquelyn and Walter's Big Day! I met with them back in Dec, So I have been anxiously awaiting this day for along time! As I am sure they have of course, I am after all only their photographer.... I could not wait, so I put together not only a preview of their images here, but on my site as well. They had a beautiful ceremony, and were so cute to watch. They both have such great attitudes, and their families were wonderful! Thank You both for allowing me to take part in such an important day of your life!

The Love of Football...

My Husband, My Kids and I are all huge sports fans! So my husband and the boys go to Arena Football games quite a bit, but this time the girls and I went as well. The Wyoming Cavaliers (my home state yeah!) beat The New Mexico Wildcats 66-32! I wish I would have been able to capture more shots (personal, family ones of course I got tons) but I was able to grab these 3! I love this helmet one! After the game you go down to the field to meet the players, but that photographer instinct in me took over, and was on the look out for shots rather than meeting players....

Rio Grande Zoo Adventures!

Are we ever too old for the Zoo? I really don't think so! I was really excited to do a shoot there so I could go! The only bummer was it was really hot that day so there were not as many animals out and about. Alot of them were sleeping or hiding, but the ones that did come out to greet us did a great job!

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Heather and Andrew

This charming couple decided that they wanted to be photographed at the Zoo! Which was so appropriate for their personalities. They are both out door people, and did a great job! This is a tiny preview of what I was able to capture. Even in 101 degree heat, they were really cute together!

I had an Engagement Session scheduled today, but my bride got sick.... Poor girl! So we are doing those next weekend. Of course this means I had some time slotted, So I took full advantage. These were taken literally within 4 minutes of one another just opposite sides of scenery! I love how they both turned out, and really like the colors... Enjoy your weekend!

5 minutes to spare...

What is a photographer to do when they have 5 minutes to spare and girls who are dressed so pretty? We do a Mini Session of course! My husband is getting used to this quality in me, but still makes fun of me when I last minute turn church going into a session! The Triplets were thrilled with their new braclets and love to have thier toes painted! Needless to say they were Princess' today in every sense of the word! And let me capture some great shots!

Jacquelyn and Walter

On Wednesday I have the privelage of photographing these two for their Engagement session! We had the best time! They were so great... willing to do interesting things... with or without my suggestion :) Hence the leg pose! When I asked her to lift her leg, that was not quite what I had in mind! But they were so fun! I can't wait to photograph their wedding, I hear it's going to be rather big, and I am so excited for them! To view more of their session, please visit my site under the "I Do" tab.

The Aquarium..

During a recent photo shoot I was able to capture these adorable children... I would love to tell you their names, but I have no clue who they were! Both sets were siblings, and both sets thought they were "seeing Finding Nemo!" I love the color of the water, and the definition of the turtle and sting ray! Sometimes the best subjects are those that are unaware they are being photographed!

Sights to see in Albuquerque, NM

During a recent photo shoot, I was able to enjoy some sight seeing as well! Visiting both "Old Town" and the Botanic Gardens, I was able to capture some cool shots! Thought I'd post a few for you to enjoy as well...

Most of you know that My husband Kevin is in the Air Force. He is a Security Forces Cop. Well yesterday, he took part in a Memorial Ceremony for one of his Airmen... One of my charities is called Operation, Love, Reunited... While this is normally for welcoming photos, I felt it my duty both as a photographer, but more so as a Military Wife to take and then give my husbands squadron a cd of the photos I took. I wanted to share just a few with my clients as well.... Thank You to all those Men and Women who serve!

My latest Investment...

I always see photographers show thier new stuff :) So of course I wanted to as well... I bought this for a couple of reasons A) because it's so nice, I love it! and B) I actually bought it for Bridal Shows. I noticed on tons of websites that when going to bridal shows this is a beautiful way to get your business name and website seen! Anyhow I have been asked a couple of times now who does my signs!? Her name is Sheila, of A Simple Impression! She does great work, and is very artistic with her craft. Feel free to visit her online store posted on the right hand of this blog, under friends of Jody Cooper photography. Thanks Shelia!

Taking a break.. at Finding Nemo

I have spent the week editing, so today I took a little break. The Triplets, Kevin and I went to Disney's Finding Nemo On Ice! And to be honest, as you can see on both my site and the blog, it is very hard to get the 3 of them together, so here is a cute photo of them! It's been 4 years since we've been able to do such things and we had a great time! Enjoy!

"Newborns".... Rated Top Notch!

Under discussion this time is "Newborns" and apparently, It was a hit! This so humbles me, every time.... I love this photo! It is one of my absolute favorites! The primary consensuses was that everyone loved the band aids and especially the Id bracelet...I went to the hospital when little Mikea was all of about 8 hours old. Other than actually being there when they are born, is there anymore newborn then this?

Meet "The Chase Family"...

Ok, so they are not all The Chase Family, but that is the last name I could remember! These guys were such troopers... No shoes, No socks, the bright sunlight... and all that good stuff! This is a very tiny sample of what is yet to come, but really wanted you guys to at least see these! Enjoy!

Amanda and Michael...

I had the best time photographing these two! They were so cute, their friends and family were great, and I am not sure we ever stopped laughing! I loved so many photos, but made myself pick these few as a preview for Amanda and Michael! They asked specfically for black and white, sepia and "Flag" images... So I think they will love these!

Aspen, Payton, Trinity

What began as me simply wanting to take a few shots of Aspen's eye (little fender bender) turned into "Mommy, It's my turn!" Well they never volunteer to let me photograph them, so I jumped at the opportunity to do so! I love how girly they are even in football jersey's!

Accenting the Sky...

Have you ever had a hard day, but then something great happens and makes it all better :) Well I am proud to learn that my photo was rated top notch by fellow professional photographers! You know they do excellent work themselves, so to get such awesome feed back makes it worth while... I hope you all enjoy this as well, I have said from day one there is nothing prettier than the sky here! It never ceazes to amaze me!

Two more images make Editor's Chioce!

I always feel so blessed when my photos get picked for the Editor's Choice! So I am honored to share them with my clients!
The first image titled "Walking with Friends" features my six children. I love this photo, not only because it is of them, but I love the scenery. Now this I am considering doing the canvas in!
(see explanation further down on blog)
The second image titled "Wine" was taken in Trier, Germany. I absolutely fell in love with this display upon walking into the restaurant it was featured in. I hope you guys enjoy the images as much as my Editor did!

Dave's 14 year Session...

Dave can be a challenge to photograph sometimes but he likes these, and they have grown on me. Even thou he is not doing the typical "poses" or smiling in one, He is such a handsome kid! Also, he looks so grown in them! He likes the geometrics of him standing by all the browns! Very New Mexico style by the way...2 down, 4 to go!

One of my Favorite Families...

Meet The Havel Family... I actually had the privelage of photographing them more than once! The first time was for and when Zach was deployed to Iraq, The second time was when Zach got home! I have to tell you it's Cody, their 3 year old son that has a special place in both mine and Kevin's heart! Cody has autism, and never ceased to amaze me with the things he could do! He had both his mother and I worried about photographing him, but if I may, I am pleased to say that I am the first photographer who "got that shot" of Cody! More than once! We miss them all so much!

Broc's 11 year Session...

I love to hang 8x10's of each child in my house, which means once a year we do an offical age photo. For the first time, I am doing them myself. Broc is very hard to photograph because he is going through that age where he doesn't want to smile! I am pleased with the turn out of these, and I love him in Blue! He is my only blue eyed child.

Just for fun...

For Valentines Day Kevin and I went to dinner for the first time in quite awhile. Almost 15 years of marriage and 6 kids later makes it very hard to find time to go. At the dinner we had place settings that looked great, so of course I took out my camera to see what I could come up with. I love how everything is blurry but the ice and my name! What a cool affect. In case your wondering where Kevins card was, it had food dropped on it, which does not make for the nicest photograph...:)

More Favorites....

This is Josiah, oh how cute is he?!? He was so sweet and precious!
I know some photographers do a photo of the year, or photo of the month...but as par for course with me,I am alittle abnormal. I am doing Favorites, because it never fails I always love more than one shot at each session.

Bits n Pieces...

Some of my favorite shots are very unique! I absolutely love feet shots. I love close up face shots, babies playing with their hands in their mouth shots and all those fun shots that make candid portrait sessions what they really are.... You can't "pose" these shots, which is why I just had to share them with you!

Goodbye Europe... Hello America!

This is a bit out of order, but I was looking for different shots than those already posted on my website. After being stationed in Europe for Eight years (2 tours of 4 years each) We are now back home! We loved Germany, my kids spent more than half their lives there. Four of them being born there makes that easy. We are currently adjusting to being back in America! I wanted to share portraits from both places with you all, Enjoy!

Some of my favorite work

This is my son Heath and his friend Ryan at a soccer game. Candid, raw emotion real life moments are what I strive to capture! The natural sunlight was such a great asset to how great these photos turned out!

Traditional German Wedding...

Being hired today for a wedding in May, reminded me that I have German wedding photos that I would love to share! In Germany, anyone is allowed to come to your wedding, even if they don't know you! They milk a fake goat after the ceramony as to indicate how fertile they are, thus how many children they will have. They sit down quite a few times in the ceramony, in more than one spot. And the little boy is wearing the attire worn by boys and even men to such occasions! It was one of the prettiest weddings and chapels I had ever been to.

Dave...

My oldest son David, turned 14 today! I love to photograph him because he can be a challenge. He is a person who needs to do his own thing, but once he relaxes you can get great shots of him!

You know when I say...

..."relax, I understand"...I really do! I have Six kids of my own. My bribery rarely works. For me, it's called Photographer's Child Syndrome and we discuss it and support each other on the online community of photographers that I belong to-HA!
Everyone thinks I take pictures of my kids all the time. Wrong...for 2 main reasons...first,...I'm just too busy, and second, they won't let me!

So when I say that if you stay in the background or let us go off on our own that the kids will cooperate, it's true because I'm not THEIR mom. No kids want to listen to their mom, but they will cooperate for another adult!Anyway-I have a 30x40 canvas print that I'm dying to order for my house. This really wasn't what I had in mind. So much for this being the Christmas card I was sending to all of you this year!!
*parts of this posting were from a fellow photographers blog! Thank You!

"Always Remember"

One of my goals when becoming a photographer was to be Kodak's Picture of the day! When I say they are very selective I am not kidding! After tons of submitted photos, "Always Remember" was finally picked, and posted in Madison Square Gardens on Memorial Day 2007. What a dream and honor come true...

"Perfect Sunset"

This photo is what started my whole career! This was my first published, awarded photo, I love it! The funny thing is my husband hates cold weather, and to be honest he also hates too hot! He was so put out with me for making him wait in the cold while i took this photo. Now he loves it of course!

"Tough Boys" *Editor Choice Award 2007

These "Tough Boys" are actually my 3 sons. Dave, Broc and Heath. I took this shot on accident trying to get a different shot from the ground, literally! I am flattered that it has earned such awards!

The Triplets!

*Better photo of the day 2007

Aspen, Payton and Trinity are my Identical triplets (1 in 200 million shot), and to be honest the most challenging of all my clients! They are adorable when I can get all three of them together!

Day One!

I finally set aside time to start my phototraphy blog to keep you - my valued client - up-to-date with Jody Cooper photography news, sneak peeks and all around fun conversation. Updates to the blog will be posted regularly, or that is the plan :) so please bookmark us and share with your friends and family.

To get the ball rolling, here are some sneak peeks from recent sessions. I have to start with my 6 pride and joy's, also known as my children. They can be my hardest "client" at times, they are so used to me being behind the camera it gets old to them. Never the less I love them. Enjoy!
