Goodbye Europe... Hello America!

This is a bit out of order, but I was looking for different shots than those already posted on my website. After being stationed in Europe for Eight years (2 tours of 4 years each) We are now back home! We loved Germany, my kids spent more than half their lives there. Four of them being born there makes that easy. We are currently adjusting to being back in America! I wanted to share portraits from both places with you all, Enjoy!

Some of my favorite work

This is my son Heath and his friend Ryan at a soccer game. Candid, raw emotion real life moments are what I strive to capture! The natural sunlight was such a great asset to how great these photos turned out!

Traditional German Wedding...

Being hired today for a wedding in May, reminded me that I have German wedding photos that I would love to share! In Germany, anyone is allowed to come to your wedding, even if they don't know you! They milk a fake goat after the ceramony as to indicate how fertile they are, thus how many children they will have. They sit down quite a few times in the ceramony, in more than one spot. And the little boy is wearing the attire worn by boys and even men to such occasions! It was one of the prettiest weddings and chapels I had ever been to.

Dave...

My oldest son David, turned 14 today! I love to photograph him because he can be a challenge. He is a person who needs to do his own thing, but once he relaxes you can get great shots of him!

You know when I say...

..."relax, I understand"...I really do! I have Six kids of my own. My bribery rarely works. For me, it's called Photographer's Child Syndrome and we discuss it and support each other on the online community of photographers that I belong to-HA!
Everyone thinks I take pictures of my kids all the time. Wrong...for 2 main reasons...first,...I'm just too busy, and second, they won't let me!

So when I say that if you stay in the background or let us go off on our own that the kids will cooperate, it's true because I'm not THEIR mom. No kids want to listen to their mom, but they will cooperate for another adult!Anyway-I have a 30x40 canvas print that I'm dying to order for my house. This really wasn't what I had in mind. So much for this being the Christmas card I was sending to all of you this year!!
*parts of this posting were from a fellow photographers blog! Thank You!

"Always Remember"

One of my goals when becoming a photographer was to be Kodak's Picture of the day! When I say they are very selective I am not kidding! After tons of submitted photos, "Always Remember" was finally picked, and posted in Madison Square Gardens on Memorial Day 2007. What a dream and honor come true...

"Perfect Sunset"

This photo is what started my whole career! This was my first published, awarded photo, I love it! The funny thing is my husband hates cold weather, and to be honest he also hates too hot! He was so put out with me for making him wait in the cold while i took this photo. Now he loves it of course!

"Tough Boys" *Editor Choice Award 2007

These "Tough Boys" are actually my 3 sons. Dave, Broc and Heath. I took this shot on accident trying to get a different shot from the ground, literally! I am flattered that it has earned such awards!

The Triplets!

*Better photo of the day 2007

Aspen, Payton and Trinity are my Identical triplets (1 in 200 million shot), and to be honest the most challenging of all my clients! They are adorable when I can get all three of them together!

Day One!

I finally set aside time to start my phototraphy blog to keep you - my valued client - up-to-date with Jody Cooper photography news, sneak peeks and all around fun conversation. Updates to the blog will be posted regularly, or that is the plan :) so please bookmark us and share with your friends and family.

To get the ball rolling, here are some sneak peeks from recent sessions. I have to start with my 6 pride and joy's, also known as my children. They can be my hardest "client" at times, they are so used to me being behind the camera it gets old to them. Never the less I love them. Enjoy!
